Y-Mention It - 10/27

In this issue of Y-Mention It, join the YMCA team and help save lives, relax and unwind, and 'Tri' something new!

"Hello there, thank you for joining us last week for Pumpkin Swim - we hope you had fun. We'd also like to thank Nedzu Farmstand for donating all of the pumpkins for the event. We are hiring lifeguards, particularly those who are able to lifeguard during the day. We will be able to offer lifeguard training or recertifications; please contact me to apply and for more details. Our next Red Cross lifeguard training is on November 25th; click here to learn more. That's all for now. Have a great week."
- Shanti Blatnik, Aquatics Director

"Hi everyone, I hope you're well. We have a few upcoming events I'd like to share. I am excited to offer a Healthy Spine and Lower Back series starting on Friday, October 30th. This series will blend Pilates and yoga to help you release everyday tension. You can learn more here. We're still getting ready for our annual Jingle Jog 5K and Family Fun Mile on December 5th at Stewart Park. This festive five is a great way to start the holiday season and raise money to support our membership and program scholarships, so our neighbors have a place to belong. I hope you can join us this year."
- Elizabeth Vitell, Health and Wellness Director

"Thank you for your understanding regarding Friday's pool closure. We apologize for any inconvenience. In case you have missed it, Session 6 program registration is now open for members and nonmembers. You can visit our website to view our up-to-date offerings through the end of the year. If you are looking for childcare to fill conference days or holidays, we can help. Our full-day childcare dates are available, including holiday breaks! You can find our full-day calendar here. Until next time, I'll see you at the Y"
- Emily Leviere, Senior Director of Membership and Programs

Participants will run, bike, and swim against the clock to see how far they get, while raising money for membership scholarships, so everyone can be a part of the Y.

LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA UPDATE

As of September of 2026, 60 cancer survivors have rebuilt their strength and spirit as part of the Livestrong at the YMCA program.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free 12-week fitness program where cancer survivors work alongside coaches and mentors to improve their strength, balance, and overall physical health.

We are proud to work alongside survivors to create a place to rebuild their bodies and social connections after treatment. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is made possible by grants and the YMCA Annual Campaign.

Did You Know?

Apples are older than humans! The oldest evidence of apples dates back 9 million years! Compare this with human fossils, which date back 300,000 years. Talk about a lot of ancestors.

Until next time, we all can't wait to see you at the YMCA.
