"Hi everyone! I hope you are making the most of these warm days with some time by the water. We have a lot going on in the pool coming up. On June 19th, we'll be holding our last School's Out Swim Clinic of 2026. In addition, our next Sensory Gym & Swim is coming up on Saturday, June 13th, from 2:30 - 5:00 pm. This is a time for swimmers with sensory processing differences to enjoy the pool, or play in the gymnasium- this program is free, thanks to a grant from TCYS. Lastly, if you're looking for something to do this summer, we will be holding two weeks of Swim Camp, July 20th - 24th and August 3rd - 7th. Swim Camp is a great way to build your skills and have fun spending half your day in the pool - register here. Until next time, have a great day!"

MISSION MOMENT:
SWIM SAFETY FOR ALL

The Y and Village at Ithaca have partnered to provide swim safety lessons and transportation for underserved youth in our community. Toddlers and school-aged children learned safety skills during free weekly lessons during May, for Water Safety Month.

This collaboration breaks down barriers and addresses the leading cause of death in children 0 to 4, and the second leading cause of death for children nationally, according to the CDC. Additionally, this collaboration provides access to water safety and swim programming for families who may have been facing transportation or financial barriers to teaching their children to swim, by providing lessons for free, and Village at Ithaca assisting with registration.

This program is made possible by the Step Into Swim Grant, which allows the YMCA and Village at Ithaca to serve 52 swimmers and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn foundational water safety skills in a community of natural water sources.

We are proud to share our work as a community nonprofit. Thank you for supporting the YMCA mission.

Did You Know?

Blue Moon, Harvest Moon, Strawberry Moon? That's right, June has a unique moon type, the Strawberry Moon. Unfortunately, it's not red, nor does it go well with lemonade. June's full moon is called the Strawberry Moon because of the accompanying fruit harvest - simple as that!

Until next time, we all can't wait to see you at the YMCA.
