On April 18th, the YMCA of Ithaca & Tompkins County hosted its annual Healthy.
Kids Day, a celebration dedicated to the well-being of our local youth and the power of
togetherness. This event served as a reminder that "raising a family takes a village."
bringing together a diverse array of organizations to ensure every child in our

A Day That Brought the Community Together

Healthy Kids Day was more than just an event—it was a reflection of what makes Ithaca
such a strong and supportive community. Every organization present had something
meaningful to offer families, whether it was healthcare services, mental health support,
youth programs, educational opportunities, financial resources, disability services, or
advocacy initiatives.

From medical providers like Northeast Pediatrics, Cayuga Health,
and Tompkins County Whole Health, to youth-centered spaces like the Ithaca Youth
Bureau, GIAC, and Coddington Road Community Center, each partner played an
important role in supporting the growth and well-being of local children and families.
The day was also filled with fun, hands-on activities that brought kids and families
together in an engaging way.

Children had the chance to participate in archery, gaga
ball, jump rope, corn hole, face painting, coloring, crafts, book giveaways, and aquatic
tables, creating an atmosphere of excitement, learning, and connection. These activities
not only made the event enjoyable but also reinforced the YMCA’s message that
healthy living includes physical activity, creativity, and social connection.

At its core, Healthy Kids Day showcased the power of community collaboration. When
healthcare providers, educators, local organizations, and families come together, they
create a stronger foundation for the next generation. The event was a reminder that we
truly are better together, and that building a healthier Ithaca starts with supporting one
another as a village.

The YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County would like to thank our sponsors, Wegmans and Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Without their support, Healthy Kids Day would not be possible.
