YMCA to Host Cayuga Health’s Community Heart Health Fair
ITHACA, N.Y. — The YMCA of Ithaca, Cayuga Health and Tompkins County invite the public to attend Wellness Connection: a Community Heart Health Fair, held 4-7 pm Monday, February 27, at the YMCA’s main facility at 50 Graham Road West in Ithaca. This event is free, and all are welcome.
At the fair, a number of agencies from across the Ithaca area will share information about what it takes to be heart healthy. Participants can receive free health screenings, information and education on various topics, nutritional guidance, giveaways and more.
One of our main focuses at the Y is healthy living,” said Senior Program Director Gunnar Madison. “Whether that’s getting regular exercise, eating well, getting enough rest or just getting in some recreation a few times a week — there are a lot of ways of staying healthy. This event is another example of our partnership with Cayuga Health and recognizes we are all working on this together. Along with Tompkins County and the other participating organizations, we are providing great resources to our community to encourage heart health.”
In addition to the Health and Wellness staff from the Y, participants include Cayuga Health’s Cayuga Heart and Vascular Center, Lab Services, Imaging Services, Cayuga Center for Healthy Living, Cayuga Health Partners, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy. Representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, Tompkins County Whole Health, the Human Services Coalition, the Cornell Master of Public Health program and Aetna will share information about their services.
Wellness Connection: a Community Heart Health Fair will take place in the Y’s gymnasium. The Family Play Center child care room will be open for those with children, and free groceries available in the Y’s Neighborhood Food Hub. Visitors can request a tour of the Y at the Welcome Desk.
