Y Mention It: Open Interviews, Game Night, Community Health Info, & More!
Thank you to eveyone who helped us start off the new year at the Y with energy and enthusiasm. New programs are starting, and we're thrilled to see so many fresh faces coming through our doors every day. Welcome to all!
Of course we're still looking towards more fun programs and events in the coming weeks. Details are below, and we'll see you there!
Open Interview Day
Know someone that's looking for a fun, flexible job in a great community? We are holding another day of drop-in interviews for all open positions at the YMCA. Interviews will take place between 10 am and 5 pm this coming Wednesday, January 25.
Openings include School Age Child Care Counselor, Lifeguard, Welcome Center Representative, Swim Instructor, Child Watch Staffer, and more. Read the full descriptions at IthacaYMCA.com/jobs.
For those who can't come to the Y in person, Tompkins Workforce New York is hosting online interviews from 10 am to noon. Register to interview online.
Youth & Family Game Night
Pass the dice and start the timer! Our Game Night, planned for 5-7 pm on Friday, January 27, will give you the chance to try out one or more options from a variety of creative tabletop games. Y staff will be on hand to teach the game basics and help with any pointers needed.
These will include both competitive and cooperative options, some easy to learn, others that require time and strategy. Games will be most appropriate for ages 12+, and we welcome young adults, families with teens, junior members, groups of friends — whoever wants to play! Stop by for as long as you like.
Help us prepare by signing up online at IthacaYMCA.com.
Community Health Information
Representatives of the Cayuga Health Population Health Coalition — the YMCA, Cayuga Health Systems, the Health Department, and other nonprofit organizations — will be tabling in the YMCA lobby from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Friday, January 27. Stop to talk and leave equipped with info about local health services and resources.
Pools Closing Saturday Afternoon for Maintenance
We will close our large and small pools at noon this Saturday, January 21, to make a repair. The pools will reopen at 11:00 on Sunday for your lap & family swimming needs. 🏊♂️
Full Day Fun, February 20-24
When schools are closed for breaks, we're open all day! Kickball, tag, seasonal crafts and coloring, dodgeball, musical chairs, reading and literacy, STEM projects, and more — ages 5-12 are welcome to join us for a whole day of safe, supervised fun.
Full Day Fun programs open at 8:00 am and continue to 5:30 pm. Participants can attend for as much time as you need. Registration is $35 per day for those already in our afterschool programs, $40 for Y members, and $80 for non-members.
Upcoming Full Day programs are scheduled for the mid-winter recess February 20-24 and for March 17.

Help Us with Our Wish List!
We provide official Red Cross training and certification for those looking to hold a job as a lifeguard this year. Classes are held from 8 am to 6 pm; participants must attend all sessions and pass skills test and written and practical exams to gain their certification, which includes CPR/AED/First Aid.
The course is $300 for YMCA members, $350 for non-members. For more information or to set up an appointment to complete the prerequisite skills assessment, contact Emily Richardson, Red Cross Coordinator: erichardson@ithacaymca.com.
Camp Registration Coming in February
Believe it or not, we're getting ready for summer camp season! Our day camp programs are the most fun we have all year, and we can't wait for you to join us.
Watch these newsletters or ithacaymca.com/camp for updates — we'll share as soon as they're ready.
January always means new members — thank you for helping us welcome more daily lap swimmers! We wanted to remind our community that when the pool is busy, swimmers should be prepared to share lanes in a respectful and welcoming manner.
Please use care and caution when entering and sharing lanes, and be sure to follow any instructions given by a lifeguard. They are working every day to keep us all safe.
Thank you, and have a great weekend!
