Youth & Family Program Leader

Shifts: Part Time (5-10 hours per week including nights and weekends)
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hourly Rate: $15.50 per hour
Reports to: Senior Program Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under supervision from the Senior Program Director, the Youth & Family Program Leader plans, manages, and facilitates safe, high-quality, member-focused youth, teen, and family programs and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assists in developing and delivering youth, teen, and family programs.
  2. Compiles program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs and membership cultivation and retention.
  3. Secures and schedules the needed facilities and creates and schedules the programs, activities, or events.
  4. Helps market programs to members, program participants, and community partners.
  5. Create a nurturing and safe environment and report suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse.
  6. Designs programs that develop social-emotional skills, fosters achievement, supports academic growth, and provides enrichment.
  7. Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment including keeping supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
  8. Does all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Must have a high school degree or equivalent.
  3. Experience working with children.
  4. Creative thinker with experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs.
  5. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently with general direction.
  7. Must be organized with strong attention to detail.
  8. Ability to build relationships with individuals and the community.
  9. Ability to work with diverse population.
  10. CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration certifications are required (YMCA will provide within the first 90 days if not currently certified).

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
