The YMCA offers many different group fitness classes for you to enjoy.  Whether you are interested in a cardio workout; strength training; improving your mind, body, and spirit; or want to try one of our specialty classes, we have the perfect class for you.

Cardio Workouts:

Y Dance: This class is for the dancer at heart! The dance segment is made up of various choreographed dances set to specific music. This unique dance class offers a variety of dance steps that keep you moving around the dance floor.

Step: This is a cardiovascular class that uses the step as a platform that you step up and down on with various patterns. You will move over and around the step with a variety of patterns set to motivating music. There is a strength training portion included with this class.

Step Interval:  Step exercises mixed with strength training exercises. The instructor will lead you through step combos alternated with strength exercises.

Total Workout: The full plate combo – an easy to follow class that may include the following forms of movement; simple step combos, hi/low combos, and muscle sculpting. This class will get you moving in all directionsgreat workout for those who like variety in movement.

Salsa Workout: This is a 30 minute class. The instructor teaches salsa dance steps. In the process of learning the steps the participant can burn some calories, have fun and learn to dance! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Strength Training Workouts

Building Strength: A one-hour class for those just starting out, seniors, and individuals who want to learn more about strength training. The class will focus on strengthening muscles, increasing flexibility, posture and balance. The instructors emphasize functional exercises that will enhance the quality of everyday activities. The class can be performed from a seated position. The instructor offers modifications to suit the needs of the participant.

Mind, Body, and Spirit Workouts:

Pilates/Core: One hour class focusing on strengthening and lengthening the abdominal, hip, back, and buttock muscles (your power house). This mat based class includes many exercises inspired by Joseph Pilates.  Individual is encouraged to work at his/her own level.

Pilates/Ball: This class is a combination of mat exercises combined with the use of the ball.

 Yoga: Hatha Yoga promotes flexibility, improves strength and endurance, cultivates balance and increases body awareness. The class is taught in a noncompetitive environment. Participants will gain awareness to their breathing and take movements to their personal limits. For all levels.

Power Yoga: This is a step up from Yoga.  Previous experience with basic yoga postures and names of exercises is highly recommended. The class is not recommended for individuals that have no yoga experience.

Gentle Yoga: A gentle approach to increase your flexibility, strength, and balance. Focus will be on improving body awareness, breathing and stress reduction. The instructor shows a variety of options throughout the class. The use of props will be available to aid in the exercises.
